The Story

Welcome To The Golden Barrel

New York, 1922. Prohibition is in full swing. Officially, America has gone dry. Unofficially, whiskey is flowing faster than ever.

For months, mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby has quietly invested a fortune into an abandoned distillery. Hidden from the authorities and accessible only to those who know where to look, Gatsby's newest venture has finally opened: The Golden Barrel.

Tonight, Gatsby has invited an exclusive collection of socialites, politicians, bootleggers, entertainers and business associates to celebrate the distillery's grand opening.

The jazz is playing. The glasses are full. The deals are being made.

Then an unexpected guest arrives.

Vincent Sinclair. Former business associate. Professional blackmailer. And a man who seems to know everyone's secrets.

During Gatsby's grand-opening toast, Sinclair interrupts the celebration, raises a glass and promises that before the evening is over, he will reveal a secret capable of destroying Gatsby's new empire.

Everyone raises their glass.

Sinclair drinks.

Seconds later...

he collapses.

The glass shatters. The music stops. And Vincent Sinclair is dead.

It appears someone poisoned his drink.

  • Participating tickets cast you as a character. You aren't simply watching the mystery. You become part of it.
  • Character details arrive after purchase. Please allow up to 72 hours for your character assignment and information to arrive by email.
  • Spectator tickets are available. Want to enjoy the night without playing a character? Choose spectator admission.
  • Come dressed for the era. Think flappers, fedoras, fringe, pearls, suits and 1920s glamour.
  • Keep your secrets. Some information is meant to be shared. Some information should remain hidden until the right moment.
  • Be ready to mingle. The investigation takes place throughout the room. You'll need to interact with other guests to complete your objectives.
  • Arrive on time. The story begins at 7:00 PM and important information is revealed throughout the evening.
  • Craft spirits available. Vetus Distillery will be serving beverages during the event. Guests purchasing alcohol must meet legal drinking-age requirements.

Is this a show or an interactive event?

This is an interactive murder mystery. Participating guests are assigned characters and become part of the storyline. You will mingle with other characters, complete objectives, gather clues and attempt to solve the murder.

Do I have to play a character?

No. Participating admission places you directly inside the mystery, but spectator tickets are also available if you'd rather watch the story unfold.

When will I receive my character?

Participating guests will receive their character details and backstory by email up to 72 hours after their ticket purchase. Please make sure the email address entered during checkout is correct.

What should I wear?
